Oregon Hemp Center Gifted a Million Dollars

The newly created hemp center at Oregon State University has received a $1 million donation from two industrial hemp entrepreneurs who have ties to the university.

The Global Hemp Innovation Center was unveiled at Oregon State University in June this year and the gift from Oregon CBD is the first major donation that the center has received since its inception.

Oregon CBD is a company that produces high-quality hemp seeds for growers interested in selling to CBD extractors. The company has been so successful that they sell each seed at a dollar each and the minimum order they accept is 5,000 seeds.

Oregon CBD was founded by two brothers, Seth Crawford and Eric Crawford. Both are graduates of Oregon State University (OSU).

The brothers have told the hemp center that the $1 million gift should be used to conduct research into hemp genomics with a view to deepening the scientific community’s understanding of how industrial hemp can be used in nutrition and health products, construction and textile materials.

Seth Crawford, who taught sociology at OSU until 2016, said that hemp has immense potential, but that potential can only be unlocked when the genetics of the plant are fully understood. Seth Crawford is a common name within Oregon because of the years he spent researching and disseminating information about the economics of marijuana. He has degrees in public policy, English and sociology, and he has a doctorate in sociology.

His brother Eric has a degree in horticulture from OSU and he served as a naturalist at the national park in Mount Rainer before he founded a landscape architecture company. He sold this company in order to team up with his brother Seth at Oregon CBD.

Seth Crawford says that his ties with OSU don’t just end at himself and his brother Eric. He revealed that the family has a long history of links to the university from way back when his grandfather graduated from OSU in 1954.

Giving back to the university is their way of showing appreciation for all that they have gained from the institution, Seth Crawford says.

While the brothers have been involved in hemp research, they feel that much more can be done if they involve the OSU hemp center.

While other private individuals who donate money to university research centers do so with an intention of directly benefiting from that research, Oregon CBD’s founders seem to look at things differently and they have told the research center that they can collaborate with anyone in their work and they should put their findings in the public domain for all to benefit.

The onus is now on the largest hemp center in the country to make use of those funds and widen the knowledge available on hemp genetics.

Analysts believe that the entire hemp industry, including companies like SinglePoint Inc. (OTCQB: SING) and Sugarmade Inc. (OTCQB: SGMD), is grateful to the Crawford brothers for facilitating hemp genetics research.
